Here’s a lesson that will give you some new ideas on transitioning between G and C. It’s usually the first chord change most banjo pickers learn so it’s good practice to have plenty of ways to play the chord change.
I go over some Scruggs, Melodic and Single String licks that can help you transition back and forth between G and C.
The classic bluegrass murder ballad in the Key of G. This is a great banjo tune to work on playing the melody and will give beginners practice playing over a long D chord. This tune uses some pinches to accentuate the melody and a lot of forward roll to keep it moving. Just don’t listen too closely to the lyrics!
